Why We Give

We Give because God Lovingly Gave First

By generously giving to what FBJ is doing in our community, state, nation, and world, our church family is choosing to utilize what God has given us to share the good news of Jesus by serving other people in a great variety of ways.  We believe that Jesus modeled that loving and giving are directly linked together.  Our hope is that we all see our giving as an investment in what God is doing throughout our world.

Giving to our Budget

As a debt-free church, our church’s budget is much more diverse than money for light bulbs, utilities, building maintenance, salaries, and landscaping.  In our budget, you will find money set aside for ministering to those who come to our church campus, creating new churches both nationally and globally, partnering with already-established ministries in the southern part of metro Atlanta, helping people with their tangible needs along with getting victory of the addictions that are controlling their lives, serving our community emergency personnel and law enforcement, and partnering in our local schools and other local community organizations.  When you give to our budget, you are investing in impacting many different lives in ways that will last forever.

Beyond Our Budget

Throughout the year you will hear that we are inviting people to give “beyond their tithe.”  What does that mean?  “Beyond the tithe” is anything we give beyond 10% of our income. In Malachi 3:10, God says “Go ahead. I dare you. See if you can out give me.” Beyond the tithe is a chance for us to be extravagantly generous in our giving.  You can give additional gifts to specific fundraising efforts like our World Mission’s Fund, building projects, Send Relief efforts to help those who have suffered loss due to a natural disaster (tornados and hurricanes), and scholarships for our kids and students who cannot afford to pay the full price for camps and mission trips.

Recently Funded Projects

More than 50,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands more injured in a devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria the morning of Monday, February 6.

One of the strongest earthquakes to hit the region in over a century, search and rescue teams are still finding bodies under the rubble and estimate that tens of thousands of residents will need immediate medical attention.  The 7.8 magnitude quake has had at least 1,600 recorded aftershocks, leaving many neighborhoods and entire city blocks completely flattened. Through our gifts, we have been able to help setup tent cities and provide the needed food, water, and blankets to assist these people who have lost all of their possessions.

Your generosity in action

Within the last few months, we have seen tornados sweep through the Griffin area, just south of us, as well as the LaGrange area just southwest of Atlanta.  We have sent teams and our shower trailer to assist those who are coping with the losses that accompany damage created by the storms that hit those areas.  We have heard amazing stories of survival, assisted people in accumulating whatever possessions they could find, and shared the gospel with many offering hope that last forever.  All of these efforts were made possible by our church’s financial generosity.
