A Celebration of Life

A Word from Pastor Mel

DEFINING MOMENTS  The year 2022 awaits our obedience to God. What we experience in the days ahead is a reflection of our relationship to Jesus Christ. Does that get you excited about the New Year? Are you anticipating great things because of the awesome God we serve? It is my prayer that the glory of God in our midst would not only transform us, but also transform our community with ever increasing influence.

This year, you will hear me talk a lot about reaching young families and raising up a new generation of leaders to carry on the mission. The many staff members who have recently retired and the new leadership that is rising, reminds us that we always need to intentionally pass on our faith to the next generation. That means reaching and discipling children must be a priority. That means a heavy investment in youth is crucial. But it will take all of us! As a grandfather, I am calling on all of us “old folks” to sacrifice for our spiritual grandchildren that are growing up in an increasingly secular society. We want FBC Jonesboro to have a strong and vibrant witness in this community for many years to come.

We will gather as a congregation and talk specifically about what God is doing. But in the meantime, please pray for God’s guidance. Pray for volunteers to step forward and serve. Pray for God to add members to the body just as it pleases Him. We are ready to put the Pandemic behind us and step out in faith to embrace the future.

To God be the glory,
Pastor Mel

Puerto Rico Mission Trip

Our first construction trip of 2022 will be to assist a new church in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, renovate a building into a church facility. This will be a great “first trip” if you have never traveled with us. Puerto Rico has the international feel while never leaving the USA and a short 3-hour, nonstop flight from Atlanta. You don’t need great construction skills; we have skilled people leading who can help you.

Here are the details:

  • Dates: January 31 to February 09
  • Cost: $875 covers airfare and all ground expenses.
  • If you are not vaccinated you will need a negative COVID test to enter Puerto Rico and that is not included in the above cost.
  • If you are vaccinated, no tests are required.
  • Puerto Rico is the United States, so NO PASSPORT is needed

For more information contact Jeff at [email protected] or the mission office.
